Outdoors People for Climate Action
Thank you for standing up for nature, our favourite places and activities and our beloved lifestyles and work. As individuals, as a group and as a movement, we're taking action, striving to turn the climate and ecological crisis around and make the world a much better place to live - for us, those following, and all the other creatures who call this blue-green biosphere home.
Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, Tasmania
Good Global News - China (the world’s largest emitter) surprised the world at the UN General Assembly by announcing a net-zero emissions by 2060 target.
Federal Failure - The federal government’s Technology Investment Roadmap and recently announced budget are favouring fossil fuels and snubbing renewables. Australia continues to lack a net-zero target. (Email your MP.)
Devastating Decision - Despite around 34,000 submissions opposing it, the IPC has approved the Narrabri coal seam gas project. But the fight’s far from over.
Pivotal Presidency - On 3 November, Americans will decide if the president of the world’s 2nd largest emitting country will be Donald Trump, poised to leave the Paris agreement, or Joe Biden, promising a $2 trillion climate plan.
Long Awaited Legislation - On 9 November, Zali Steggall will table the Climate Change Bill in parliament, hoping to gain desperately needed climate change legislation in Australia.
